New Years are sent to make us look at things with a clear vision
At the beginning of each year we are all full of ideas, hopes, incentives and resolutions that are going to make us fulfilled!
Jen's is to start at the very beginning and explain The Edge Hair & Beauty's philosophy
The concept of 'The Edge' was to provide the right environment for our clients from the design of the salon and its atmosphere ensuring a relaxed homely feel within eclectic mix of surroundings, deliberately avoiding the typical high tech, modern designs most salons follow.
We wanted everyone to provide a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
This concept has never changed from 1992 when Jen fell into ownership of The Edge 220 Linthorpe Road , at the tender age of 23. From the offset she knew you didn't have to spend a fortune on creating the right environment for clients to feel relaxed and not intimated whilst getting their hair styled. During the 20 year period of running the salon the look has changed from a very chintzy beginning, to a mid psychedelic phase (long term clients must remember the orange checked paper!), to a purple phase.......that lasted a while but deep down Jen always wanted to restore this beautiful Victorian building after inheriting the stud walls and office like tile ceiling, so this really is where the story begins......
Looking through the ceiling tiles we could see what was hidden
A beautiful ceiling rose
Fantastic Coving
Also an extra 2 foot above that horrible false ceiling and what the pictures don't show are the alcoves that had been covered by the stud walls! So one October day in 2012.....
Jen's husband Leggy and his mate Keven got a sledge hammer to let rip on the salon
Tanalised wood normally used for fencing was purchased And the transformation began!
